Overarching: Scope: What is the scope of this security architecture?

Options:

The scope of this study includes:

System type What function the system performs What does this system do for the business?

Systems and their role in the enterprise

Coverage includes:

  • The entire enterprise (including)
  • Industrial control systems
  • Archives
  • Record management systems
  • Computer systems and networks
  • Digital content

Decision:

For each type of system used in the business and within the scope of this architecture, identify the name of the type, describe its function, and relate its name and function to the business. For example, if there are 30 similar "Database server" systems that support similar processes (e.g., These systems are used to store customer data from different business units.), they should be listed as a single entry along with the business purpose (e.g., They store customer data.). But if each performs a different function with different issues and effects, they should be listed separately. Add rows as needed to meet the need.

Systems and their role in the enterprise

Basis:

The scope of the architecture is up to the enterprise. Generally, it is a good idea to have a scope that covers a class of similar facilities, a business unit, or an enterprise.
