Disk Destroyer CD: This distribution is designed to wipe all of the contents from disks - beginning to end. It directly accesses disk contents at the BIOS level and overwrites disks in a variety of different ways - depending on the user's needs. Some of its special features include:
Diskless mode: boot the computer diskless and it ejects the CD-ROM after an initial bootup. You can then start wiping one disk as you go to the next system with your CD.
Fast Wipe: In fast wipe mode Disk Destroyer overwrites the entire disk with "0"s. This is the fastest complete disk wipe mode available.
Deep Wipe: In deep wipe modes, you can overwrite disk contents more than once with different patterns.
Full Coding Wipe: In the full coding mode, Disk Destroyer writes a special sequence of p[atterns on the disk designed to take advantage of different disk coding methods to force the actual disk media to be overwritten. Most other products don't have this mode and leave resigual data on the media even though the disk appears to be completely wiped out.
When you first get your White Glove CD, the best way to learn how to use it is to try it. Here is the easy way to start:
Put the CD in your CD drive. If you are running Windows, the manual should appear in your Web browser soon after you put the CD in the drive. You can read the detailed instructions from there and you can review other information on how to use the CD. Press the "Tutorial" button at the upper right corner of your screen, and maximize your browser window for best viewing.
Reboot your computer. If your computer is configured for CD-based bootup it will come up in White Glove. Otherwise you will have to change your BIOS settings by following the more detailed instructions on the CD itself. If the computer comes part way up then fails, try selecting the 'p' option when the prompt menu comes up for a few seconds near the start of the bootup process. For diskless mode use the 'd' or 'dp' option.
Log in as root. Then the coputer prompts for login, type 'root' followed by pressing the [ENTER] key. IF you don't seem to have a 'login' prompt but the computer did all sorts of things and looks like it may be working, try to press the [ENTER] key and see if you get a login prompt.
Start the destroyer. Once you are logged in as root, type 'diskwipe' followed by the [ENTER] key. Answer the questions and off you go.
