I agree.  Unfortunately, the anti-semitic tone tends to turn one off to
seeking (what I assume is) the underlying motivation (see below).

I have to wonder ... seems to me that a very small thrust-device could have
been attached that would have pushed Mir into higher orbit, and we could
have kept it in orbit indefinitely.  Regardless of its functionality, as a 
source
of raw materials, just imagine the cost of putting that much mass into orbit.

Sad that the demise of Mir garnered so little attention (save for the 
"fireworks"
re-entry aspect.)  It was a proud symbol of a people who put the first 
satellite
in orbit, had the first man in space, had the first woman in space, conducted
the first spacewalk.  Also, when it comes to longevity for a continuous 
presence
in space, it will be more than a decade before the space station "Freedom" (or
"Alpha") even approaches the many records that Mir has set.

I can understand why many Russians would be upset, and angry.
