Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit F Y I Web site used to recruit terrorists moves to U.S. Formerly based in Montreal Stewart Bell National Post Reuters Web posting sought recruits for camps suspected of being in Osama bin Laden's terror group. An Internet site being investigated by the RCMP after complaints it was used by Islamic terrorists for recruiting has moved its registered base from Canada to the United States. Two days after the police probe of islamway.com was announced, the Web site switched its domain address from Montreal to Ann Arbor, Mich. The change took effect on Monday. It is unclear how the sudden move will affect the RCMP investigation now the site has severed its Canadian ties. The human rights organization B'nai Brith had complained to the RCMP and Canadian Security Intelligence Service after an "invitation to jihad" appeared on the Web site's discussion board. The posting sought recruits for terrorist training at camps run by mujahedeen guerrillas in Afghanistan. Western officials believe these camps are part of the terrorist network of Osama bin Laden. "The mujahid brothers will accept you with open arms and within a period of two weeks you will be given commando training and will be sent to the frontline," says the posting, signed Brother Abdul Aleem. It was at such a camp that Algerian terrorist Ahmed Ressam, a Montreal resident, was trained before trying to bomb Los Angeles airport. He also considered attacking a Canadian neighbourhood. The Web site denies responsibility for the posting. Since publishing articles about the Web site, the National Post has received threats and anti-Jewish e-mails from as far afield as Yemen, Egypt, Libya and Saudi Arabia. "All Jewish are hated by Allah and we call them the brothers of monkeys and pigs," wrote Amatullah. "Fighting non-Muslims is something we have to do. Victory and winning will be for Muslims." "F--- you," wrote Anas Gaber. Shadi el-Kaysi wrote: "Look you dam [sic] writer stop this bullshett [sic] or you are going to be dead. This is your last warning." M. Zougui wrote: "I kill you if I find you." Jihad is the name of the religious war Muslim extremists believe is their duty to wage against their enemies, particularly Americans and Jews. Hundreds of civilians have been killed in terrorist attacks motivated by the jihad. Most Muslims do not subscribe to that radical view. A second Canadian-registered Web site, qudscall.com, which U.S. experts claim was set up by the Middle Eastern terrorist group Islamic Jihad, is also being investigated by the RCMP. Its domain is registered in Toronto. It features statements from Palestinian terrorists taking credit for bombing attacks against Israeli civilians and carries threats of further violence. Intelligence agencies are reporting that computers have become a vital terrorist tool. CSIS has warned of the disturbing trend of terrorists and their supporters making growing use of computer networks to recruit, fundraise, organize, communicate and mount cyber-attacks. ------------------------ Yahoo!
