Terrorism Probe Points to Bin Laden

Almost all of Tuesday's hijackers have been identified on flight
manifests, including many Saudi and Egyptian nationals and one known
supporter of terror suspect Usama bin Laden, Fox News has learned.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that a flight manifest from one of
the ill-fated flights did include the name of a suspected bin Laden
supporter.

Earlier, a well-informed source close to the Bush administration told
Fox News the hijackers of United Airlines Flight 93 had been identified.

"The key is what we're finding in Pennsylvania at the wreck site.
There's much [there] that didn't burn and has been salvaged," the source
said.

The source added that based on materials already found, "the hijackers
have been identified by name." The source specified that these
individuals are indeed linked to terror suspect bin Laden.

Sen. Charles Grassley, the top Republican on the Senate Finance
Committee, said authorities told him during a briefing Wednesday that
all of the hijackers were of Middle Eastern descent and that they had "a
tremendous amount of ground support for each hijacker."

"Most of it today points to bin Laden but the speculation at the end of
the road is that he and his network were very much involved with
Hezbollah, Fatah and other" terrorist organizations, Grassley said.

The FBI has leads in Florida, Massachusetts and Rhode Island concerning
the presence of Tuesday's hijackers or their associates, but has not yet
made any arrests related to the terror attacks at this point, agency
Director Robert Mueller said.

Mueller said individuals have been detained and questioned, but there
have been no arrests. Some questioned were found to have problems with
their immigration status.

The Chief Suspect

U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies were said to be focusing
their efforts almost exclusively on bin Laden, who had recently warned
of massive attacks against the United States.

Bin Laden congratulated the people who carried out the attacks but
denied that he was involved, a Palestinian journalist said.

The U.N. is currently withdrawing its international staff from
Afghanistan, where the fugitive Saudi billionaire has lived for the last
several years.

Federal authorities were investigating whether four separate cells of
terrorists were involved in Tuesday's devastating attacks. At least one
set of hijackers thought to have ties to bin Laden is believed to have
crossed from Canada en route to Boston, where an American Airlines
flight was hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center.

Bin Laden has strong family ties and a group of supporters in Boston.
One of his brothers set up scholarship funds at Harvard, while another
relative owns six condominiums in an expensive complex in Charlestown,
just outside Boston. Two associates once worked as Boston cab drivers,
including one who was jailed in Jordan on charges of plotting to blow up
a hotel full of Americans and Israelis.

FBI agents obtained information from Internet providers, conducted
searches, and questioned people in Florida and Massachusetts. Early
evidence, including communications between bin Laden supporters
discussing Tuesday's attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon,
indicated the attacks were tied to the suspected mastermind.

Investigation Highlights

Attorney General John Ashcroft said authorities were conducting
interviews and reviewing airline manifests and pay phone records to
identify the attackers. He said between three and six hijackers, armed
with knives and box cutters, seized control of each of the four
commercial planes.

Mueller said investigators' goals were identifying the hijackers and any
accomplices, both inside and outside the United States. He said
authorities are "attempting to re-create the travels" of the suspected
terrorists.

Officials said authorities were gathering evidence about four terrorist
cells that may have had prior involvement in earlier plots against the
United States. Those include the USS Cole bombing in Yemen and the
foiled attack on U.S. soil during the millennium celebrations.

"This could have been the result of several terrorist kingpins
working together. We're investigating that possibility," one
law enforcement official told The Associated Press.

The officials confirmed a car believed to belong to the
hijackers was confiscated in Boston and contained an Arabic
   language flight manual.

Abu Dhabi Television in the United Arab Emirates reported that two
men with Saudi Arabian passports and international drivers licenses
issued in the UAE were linked to the Mitsubishi sedan found at the
Boston airport.

Law enforcement officials said that the FBI on Wednesday afternoon
searched two hotel rooms in the Boston area believed to have been used
by the hijackers. The officials found information linked to a name on
the manifest of one of the hijacked flights. They declined to identify
the man.

A Venice, Fla., man said FBI agents told him that two men who stayed in
his home in July 2000 while training at a local flight school were the
hijackers. Charlie Voss said the agents identified the men as Mohamed
Atta and one known as Marwan.

FBI agents "informed me that there were two individuals that were
students at Huffman Aviation, my employer, and FBI told me they were
involved in yesterday's tragedy," Voss said.

Voss said he accepted the two men as house guests as a favor to the
company.

Ashcroft said authorities believe the hijackers were
professionally-trained pilots.

The FBI in Miami issued a national bulletin for law enforcement agencies
to look out for two cars. Records with the Florida Division of Motor
Vehicles show that one of the vehicles the FBI was pursuing - a 1989 red
Pontiac - was registered to Atta.

The FBI has already received more than 700 tips from a special Web site
seeking information on the attacks.

Agents served search warrants on major Internet service providers in
order to get information about an e-mail address that may be connected
to Tuesday's terrorist attacks.
