The hacker monitoring group attrition.org attributed the attacks to an underground group known as Pentaguard. The defacement was unusual in that it simultaneously targeted three Governments in different time zones. A message on the Pentaguard site did not offer a specific motive, but said "Hack governments all over the world ... hack them all ... who needs them anyway? ... they don't have mp3's, they don't have porn ... they're totally unusefull ...
