Hackers hit western governments
NZ Herald, 1/27/2002
<a href="http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?storyID=169522&thesection=technology&thesubsection=general">http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?storyID=169522&thesection=technology&thesubsection=general>

Hackers defaced Government websites in Australia, Britain and the United
States over the weekend, in one of the largest systematic attacks on
official sites.
The hacker monitoring group attrition.org attributed the attacks to an
underground group known as Pentaguard.
The defacement was unusual in that it simultaneously targeted three
Governments in different time zones.
A message on the Pentaguard site did not offer a specific motive, but
said "Hack governments all over the world ... hack them all ... who
needs them anyway? ... they don't have mp3's, they don't have porn ...
they're totally unusefull ... "
