I agree with your point, Marc. If you think it is bad in Canada, try the US. On occasion an agency director, or the White House official will make such foolish statements forgetting folks like you already have a job;TENURE. If these word ever got near "JR" Bush, he may have been thinking of college students-in all of their spare time, of course. As in Canada, senior gov't officials will make grand statements on how we are "winning the war" on cyber attacks. Given the patchwork quilt security setup for all of the differing types of systems used a DOD, it is clear that this matter lacks the support which it requires.. No money, or political backing over the long haul has this interesting way of killing any programs that might have been. In sum, the US gov't has no consistant sense, or view of their mission..... what their mission is. Offloading it to colleges and universities gives you a clear idea of how important the White House really considers this problem. They may talk tough on occasion, but then it is quickly off to another problem. If the West Wingers-not hocky players-really considered this a major problem, their lack of action speak volumes. Touche!

area in Canada! The Canadian government seems to be oblivious to the real
issues and only pays lip service to it when pressured by other governments.
Trying to pursue tenure while focusing in this area is extremely difficult
to say the least.

I will stop venting at this point.
